Awaziem: Nigeria eager to seal qualification for 2026 World Cup

Boavista defender Chidozie Awaziem has said that the Super Eagles are working very hard to beat Lesotho because the players all want to go to the 2026 World Cup in North America.

Awaziem said this in an interview with the Super Eagles media officer, Babafemi Raji after Tuesday’s training session at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state.

The central defender also said, “it was actually a wonderful training session today (on Tuesday) as we are all preparing for the 2026 World Cup qualification game against Lesotho.

“We all want to go to the next World Cup, it is our dream and we all know that the Super Eagles supporters want to see us at the Mundial in 2026.

“We also want to be there, so we are working very hard to make sure that we get the maximum points in these games and focus more on the next round.

“Right now, all the boys are very much prepared and I can tell you for a certainty that all the players are ready to put up a good fight against Lesotho,” Awaziem said.

Raji asked the defender about the pitch of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state with Awaziem saying that it looks really nice.

“The pitch is looking really nice, the people in charge have done very well in taking good care of the pitch, I give them big kudos for the way they have maintained it.

“I must say once again that the pitch of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium is looking really nice and we all hope that we would get a very good game against Lesotho.”
